If you're a bird, I'm a bird

On my way to school this morning I noticed a decal on the car's window in front of me. It caught my attention. I like arrows.  There is pallet art hanging in our hallway bathroom. We were recently given some arrow art from Joseph's friends, David and Stephen. Joseph and I both have arrow tattoos on our arms. Joseph got his arrows first after he told me what he wanted and the backstory behind them.  His arrows are identical in design, but one arrow is drawn further down his forearm than the other.   For my 37th birthday (2016), I made an appointment to get a tattoo after I took off a half day. I didn't even tell Joseph about it. I showed him when we went to bed that night. I think we all have to remind ourselves that parents choose to raise their children differently. I know I am guilty of looking down on parents who choose to do things differently than us and thinking our ways are "best". Of course, there are people out there, older people mostly, who tell us how they used to do things. Times have changed, like the use of walkers, cereal in bottles, carseat laws, and babies sleeping on their stomachs. These are some things we Joseph and I have decided on right now: God- Lincoln will be raised in a godly home where he hears Bible stories, prayer at the dinner table and at bedtime, prayers over his sicknesses, thanksgiving for answered prayers, clean television (once he is allowed to watch), church attendance, give 10% of all the money he receives to the Lord. Mommy vacation is something we refer to at our house when I get time to relax or do something I enjoy. Things I do during a mommy vacation: Take a hot shower with the bathroom door closed Use smelly soaps to feel pampered Make a cup of tea or coffee Sit outside under the shade tree in the backyard or on the front porch Blog Eat a dessert Take a nap Watch a favorite TV show or rent a movie Eat dinner with my husband in quiet Yesterday, I had to shop at Publix and Kroger to get a birthday gift. I walked really slow through the bakery and even wandered down random aisles not in a hurry to get back to the car where my husband and son were waiting. I called that a Mommy Vacation too. =)
