What's in a name?

Since we didn't know what we were having, we picked out a name for each. We decided on a girl name right away-Blythe Emery. Up until a couple weeks before our baby arrived we changed the name. We left the midwife's house and she predicted we were having a girl. I started second guessing the selection. Around that time, we finally decided on our boy name- Finley "Finn" August. 

Wren, River, and Finn were the top three. Since we've had the girl, nobody asked what the boy's name was going to be. My father said he didn't think Finn was a strong enough name so we lengthened it to Finley.

There were a lot of names that I liked that Joseph did not. I liked names that are nouns, like Lyric, Capri, and Luna. I got shot down. Grey and Ellis were on our baby name list when we decided on our first child's. It just didn't make the final cut. We liked Lincoln better. When we were rethinking our girl name, Joe mentioned naming a girl Grey. We'd always considered it for a boy name. He kept bringing up Ellis so we put them together and ta-da! 

We get asked a lot, "How do you spell it?" since the color is spelled two ways. Grey means "grey haired". We later found out that Ellis means "Jehovah is God". Gotta love that!

Ellis Grey is a character on our favorite T.V. drama-Grey's Anatomy. We didn't even know that was a character until we'd chosen it. 
My niece's name is Macy. Macy and Grey. Macy Gray is a singer. "Good-bye and I choke, I try to walk away and I stumble..."

She has a birth certificate and SS card so it's official. I wonder what her favorite color will be. :)
