Anniversary

Joe and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on Thursday, the 6th. It was pretty uneventful because we knew we were going to celebrate over the weekend. We decided on a "staycation" since traveling is uncomfortable and I am so close to my due date. We had a whirlpool room at the Country Inn & Suites for two nights not too far from my house. The whirlpool room has a garden tub with jets. My body needed to have some gravity taken away by soaking in the tub!

My parents came on Friday to watch Lincoln and left around 2:00 on Sunday. I missed my little guy while we were separated. I hoped he was having fun and hoping he was adjusting well to his grandparents being there and not wondering where we were.

Joe and I got ready for dinner at the hotel and ate BBQ at a new place that opened in town. The BBQ was good, but I was not pleased with either of my sides. The baked beans were hard and some were soft and the coleslaw had little flavor. Joe didn't care for his stew either...Probably won't be going back or be recommending it. We were going to take a pottery class, but it filled up before we were able to register. We went to a local cupcake shop, Silver Lining, and each ordered two cupcakes. Instead of walking around stores, we just went back to the hotel and took advantage of our tub.

Saturday we ate breakfast at the hotel to save money. We went to the farmer's market and walked around leisurely to each tent which we haven't been able to do without pushing a stroller. There were still $15 worth of tokens we had left so spent the rest of them. We bought a jar of pepper jelly and a bag of grits and pastries from one of the tents.

Our plan was to find new dining room furniture from a thrift store today. We revisited three places we had already been last week- Project Safe, the Salvation Army, and Goodwill. No luck at all! We took a break for lunch to eat at White Tiger Gourmet. It is a shop in the middle of a neighborhood. There are picnic tables outside, but liked the furniture inside (and the AC) so we chose a table with mix matched chairs to dine. We both ordered burgers and we loved them! While we ate we researched a couple more places to check for furniture.

The Potter's House moved to a new location (closer to our house) so we stopped in there. I found a circle/oval table there that I liked. It had two leafs to make the table larger. We figured we could fit 6-8 people around it which was our goal. The table was marked $75 and we were given 10% off. The only thing is that the table did not come with chairs so we still needed to get at least 4 for now.

We traded out the Rav4 at the house and took the van in case we found some chairs. Next, we went to Habitat for Humanity. We were search of random chairs that we could mix-match to go around our table. H for H can be expensive. We found out at White Tiger from the talkative girl behind the register that you can bargain there. We found a pile (about 12) of identical chairs in the back even in the same wood color as the table. Joe sat in a couple to make sure they were sturdy and comfortable. Then we saw a sign taped to one that said they were $40 each!! There was no way we could get any at that price. I was hoping to spend no more than $100. Joe talked to a lady behind the counter and she ended up selling 6 chairs to us for $15 each instead! We looked through the pile and found the ones in the best shape and a boy loaded them in the van.

Pleased with our find, we headed back to the hotel and went to the indoor (unheated) pool and Joe got in the Jacuzzi. We showered and got ready for dinner.

The last place we wanted to try was The Last Resort. We always see a line outside and tourists are told to go there so we figured we ought to try it. We arrived around 5:30 and didn't have to wait to be seated. Joe looked on Urban Spoon and saw people raved about the crab cakes even though they were an appetizer, I ordered them as my entree. I also ordered a tomato basil soup and a salad. Joe order the crab cakes as an appetizer and a trout meal. We took Cecilia's cake to go.

On Sunday, we ate breakfast at the hotel again and checked out at 11:00. We were home about an hour before my parents returned from church with Lincoln.
