VOGUEknitting

Image
I bought my first knitting magazine last night. I was browsing Hobby Lobby and took a peek at the magazines. I picked up VOGUEknitting and thought I could learn something from it and gain inspiration. I purchased it for $6.99. The subscription card says you can get 4 issues for $21.97. I am probably the ideal reader for magazine publishers. I am not a flipper. I read every advertisement and most articles. I slowly start at the top and work my way down and across each page. It took me over an hour to read this magazine and the wealth of knowledge I collected, I continued to dream about all night. I am going to share some of my favorite highlights from the magazine. You may want to pick up a copy. Zuny, sheep bookend can be found at mollaspace.com. Never mind, I just checked the website and it is no longer available... Quotes

When I was on vacation visiting my family in Beaufort, SC, I found a book titled Knit Together: Discovering God's Pattern for Your Life. The book was $5.99 at Walgreens. I flipped through reading the knitting stories mostly because the inspirational writing when I face obstacles while trying to achieve my dream of opening a yarn store. I'm always looking for quotes since I plan to stencil them on the walls of my store. "The simple meditative act of knitting may not bring about world peace, but it certainly has made my world more peaceful."--Ann Budd, Interweave Press "With a little practice and patience, our hands learn to knit; then our minds are free to enjoy the process." --Bev Galeskas, Fiber Trends "When individual fibers are knitted together with a thread of emotion, they become an original person design. This creative process is my joyful obsession." --Emily Myles, Fibre Artist "For you created my inmost being, you knit me toget

Hymn to a Good Wife

Proverbs 31:10-31 A good woman is hard to find, and worth far more than diamonds. Her husband trusts her without reserve, and never has reason to regret it. Never spiteful, she treats him generously all her life long. She shops around for the best yarns and cottons, and enjoys knitting and sewing. She's like a trading ship that sails to faraway places and brings back exotic surprises. She's up before dawn, preparing breakfast for her family and organizing her day. She looks over a field and buys it, then, with money she's put aside, plants a garden. First thing in the morning, she dresses for work, rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started. She senses the worth of her work, is in no hurry to call it quits for the day. She's skilled in the crafts of home and hearth, diligent in homemaking. She's quick to assist anyone in need, reaches out to help the poor. She doesn't worry about her family when it snows; their win

Beaufort Vacation- Married all over again!

Image
Joe and I have this bond that we feel after attending weddings. We feel like we were married all over again as we live through other couple's happiness on their wedding day. Joe's best friend, Matt was married Sunday (6-20-10) and we had a lovely time eating shrimp and grits, dancing to slow and crazy songs, and just rejoicing with a couple on this milestone. Joe was the Best Man in his seersucker suit. Matt & Laura

I found all of these in an antique store. They were around $99 each. You may want to check antique stores instead of thrift.
I'm in my second week of summer vacation. It is going by slowly so far. I'm a little bored though. I haven't left the house during the day yet. I wait until Joe gets home from work and he accompanies me to ride around or get ice cream. It feels like this is going to be a long summer unless I get so motivation. I have been knitting this week, but I can't knit everyday, all day without going crazy! Thankfully, we leave tomorrow for our anniversary.  I made reservations at Pawtropolis  for our dogs to stay for two nights. We are splurging so that we can enjoy more than one night away. We will take them first thing in the morning and drive 3 hours to Chattanooga, TN. Neither of us have been so we will be exploring a new place. I made reservations at a Quality Inn and Suites that I found on Travelocity . We have a few things planned, but mostly we are going to be flexible and enjoy each other's company. Our honeymoon was so enjoyable because we didn't use our cel

Bachelorette Prediction

Image
I believe that Roberto will end up with Ali at the finale'. If she doesn't choose him, she's stupid! He seems to be the only genuine, level-headed guy on the show this season. It doesn't hurt that he is attractive, likes baseball, and lives in Charleston, SC. If I can pick up on the chemistry through the television, then there is something there.

Rebekah's Wedding Day

Rebekah's Wedding Day Since our anniversary is Sunday, I thought I would relive this marvelous and memorable day with a video a friend made.

Etsy Store

Image
I've been making an inventory this morning for my Etsy store. I have been looking over patterns and quick, small projects so I can build up merchandise for my Esty store. I have all summer. I am also going to try to use yarns I already have to increase the profit. I worked on my mom's sweater most of the day yesterday.
