Day 11

Image
Friday, March 27- I was reading yesterday that during day 1 of the 2 day, your body only releases 20% of the fat burning and toxins, but on the 2nd day your body removes 80%. Although, it is difficult doing two days worth, it is much more beneficial to stick with it. So Day 10 & 11 are both cleanse days. Joe and I are weighing and measuring tonight! I'm so excited because I know there is going to be a change!

Day 10

Image
16 ounces of Cleanse for Life So Day 10 is another cleanse day! Today I just drink and pee! Flushing out the junk! I do feel great and pleased with the journey so far. I have noticed changes in my body and the way my clothes fit. So excited for tomorrow night after the kids go to bed and we get to weigh and measure each other. I will definitely document the results in a blog with total inches and pounds lost. Stay tuned! P.S. Joe signed up someone else to start Isagenix last night!

Day 9

Image
This Isagenix system just helps manage calorie intake and for some that is the hard part of so-called "dieting". The two protein shakes I drink are 240 calories each. The dinners are 400-600 calories. I drink 88 ounces or more of water a day. Isagenix takes the difficulty out of making and preparing healthy choices. Sure, I have cravings for the "bad" foods every now and then. We'll take a few days off at the end of our 30 days to go out to eat and have some coffee and then we will start it back up again for another 30 days. Do you want more information on transforming your life?

Isagenix Accountability

Sauteed vegetables, quinoa, and lemon-pepper salmon Run Keeper app  So my husband and I are on Day 8 today (March 24). The picture to the left is the dinner I made last night before Joseph got home from work. I actually made this with both kids home too. I decided to pick them up from school a little early and thought I would attempt prepping dinner while they were home too. I managed to accomplish both and I was proud of myself. I had blueberries and walnuts for dessert. We measure and weigh the food for dinners. We stick to the exact timetable and guidelines recommended in the program guide.  I am seeing visible changes in the mirror and in my clothes. I also "feel" healthier and slimmer. Joe and I communicate throughout the day to check on each other, and in the evenings we talk about any cravings or struggles we had that day. We are in a facebook group "Team Anchored" with other people who are also on the Isagenix journey.  I have a Run Keeper

What's your type?

Image
I love personality profiles. Especially mine. I love that they know me better than anyone (even myself) and it comforts me to know that there are other people like me, even as unique as we may be. Actually 13% of the population have the same personality type as me. ISTJ-The Logistician There are 16 different types. I am an ISTJ (Introvert, Sensor, Thinker, Judger). Turbulent means perfectionist, self-conscious, success-driven, care about their image. Introverted: 75%, Observant: 6%, Thinking: 22%, Judging: 84%, Turbulent: 43% . I first started studying Myers-Briggs Type Indicator after a boyfriend and I broke up. I bought a relationship book that went over the types individually and then as pairs. The literature explains what your strengths and weaknesses are going to be as a couple. Anyways, after we had broken up, I asked him to take the quiz and he did. He was an ENFP (Extrovert, Intuition, Feeler, Perceiver), which if you notice, are exact opposites. We were together

Circus Coming to Town

Image
Protesters The Cole Bros Circus is coming to Beaufort this week. I have never been a circus fan. The whole thing just seems creepy, and pointless honestly. When Joe and I were in Athens, Ga, we had an opinion about animals for entertainment purposes. We decided we wouldn't support zoos, dog and horse races, and rodeos. I went to the zoo as a child for school field trips. I went to a zoo in Thailand. We took the kids to the Jacksonville Zoo last April. We've been to a couple aquariums. Is it animal cruelty to take a horse drawn carriage tour of historic Beaufort? I don't belong to PETA and I won't go as far as they do. I eat meat among other things. To me, I guess zoos and aquariums seem somewhat educational and circuses, races, and rodeos do not. I don't know where I draw the line. Although, I know I won't be taking my kids to the circus this week. R

Back to Shake Days

Image
On Saturday, March 21, we started the shake days again. So much easier! It is a little harder to drink water on the weekends I noticed. So I pulled out the tape measure yesterday and wrapped it around a few body parts. Every body part was smaller than the original measure just 6 days ago. I have noticed that my stomach feels harder and less flabby. I feel like my back is also slimmer. We aren't going to weigh and record our measurements until Day 11. At church yesterday, I asked the pastor's wife about exercising. She said her husband does, but she doesn't. I think I am going to try to get 30-minutes of walking in a day. It can only help, right? Dinners have been so good! 400-600 calories of healthy foods is a lot of food! We had a massive chicken salad last night with a ton of vegetables and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. So yummy! Need to go fill up my water bottle again. R

Day 3 & 4 Cleanse!!!

Image
So Day 3 and Day 4 are cleanse days. There is a cleanse drink that you drink 4 times a day. I am allowed some Isa Snacks and a lot of water. While I am doing this, I am removing the toxins from my body which will stimulate weight loss. These are my goals: 1) Be able to wear my engagement and wedding rings 2) Wear a size M top 3) Wear size 6 or 8 jeans 4) Weight wise, I'd like to be back at 155lbs (or less). It is afternoon now of my cleanse. Peeing a lot and feeling a little hungry. Ironically, I feel better than I ever have on a "diet". I feel positive, confident, and excited about this journey. I am already anticipating doing this a second month. At the conclusion of my cleanse days I will say that they are rough. It takes mental strength. I didn't once consider quitting. I did start feeling weak and hunger pangs were definitely present. Joe and I cheered each other on. I was looking forward to a chocolate shake on Day 5.

Weight Loss Journey

Image
Sunday, 3/8/15- Joe and I talked to Pastor Chris at church about his weight loss. It was noticeable. They were doing Isagenix . Mrs. Donna told us at a birthday party that they were doing a weight loss program. Pastor Chris said he lost 25lbs. in a month and his wife loss 10lbs. He told us that he does a shake for breakfast and lunch, snacks provided in between, cleanses, and a 400-600 calorie meal at night, like grilled chicken, sweet potato, and asparagus. He said he carries around a gallon of water and drinks that a day. Joe and I were both interested in learning more so Joe called my cousin, Jesse, to ask him some more questions, who was posting pictures of shakes on facebook.  Isagenix marketing logo Tuesday, 3/10/15- Joe signed up for Isagenix under Jesse. Wednesday, 3/11/15- I signed up for Isagenix under Joe. My package is on the way! I'm excited to get started. I'm pretty determined too.  Thursday, 3/12/15- Joe received a call from Jesse that he was goi

Happiness Trigger

Image
Motivational Speaker, Valerie Burton Anticipation. In Happy Women Live Better , Valerie Burton says when we have something to look forward to, our happiness improves. If you do not have something to anticipate on your calendar, you need to put something on it. We need something to look forward to everyday. Even planning a trip can be more satisfying than actually taking the trip. She said to make a list of simple pleasures and when you need something on your calendar, choose one of the simple pleasures. You can even put them on papers in a jar and draw them randomly.   When Joe and I went on our mountain trip, we made lists of simple pleasures. Here are some of mine: 1) Parenthood episode, 2) fire in the pit on the patio, 3) movie night, 4) flea markets/consignments, 5) a bath, 6) spinning, 7) writing a letter, 8) blogging, 9) jazz bar, 10) open mic night, 11) date night, 12) adventure with the kids, 13) Sudoku puzzles, 14) random act of kindness, 15) have a dinner guest,

TMI: "I'm a woman!"

Image
I started my period when I was 11 years old, the August before 7th grade. It was a Saturday. I had been at a water slide all day with my aunt and uncle. I was left sitting on the toilet while my mom went to the store to get some pads. I knew women had periods. I saw my mom's feminine hygiene products under the counter. I remember a story my mom told me about when my aunt started her period while visiting some family in NC. She said, "I can have babies!" Her family member responded, "Not any time soon you can't!" When my mom asked if I had any questions, I asked if I could still run. That just shows you how young I was. The first four pads I purchased from etsy My periods were the same as most women- heavy days, cramping, and leaks. Started using tampons as a teenager and even tried the menstrual cup a couple times. In 2006, I started an eco-kick stemmed from an environmentalist boyfriend. When I moved to Athens, GA in 2007, I started using banda

Learning to Spin

Image
Not to be confused with the cycling class at the gym... I have been curious about spinning fiber. Main Street Yarns and Fibers in Athens, GA offered a 2-hour class for $60. I never took it because I thought it was expensive.  Add caption My husband and I went on a mountain vacation a couple weekends ago. We visited a small town, Franklin, NC below Asheville, NC. Since snow was expected for Saturday, I recommended us going in town on Friday to look around. We hit Main Street and stopped in an outdoor store, an art supply store and yarn shop. At  Silver Threads and Golden Needles , I saw that they offered spinning so I asked about classes and costs. It was $10 for a 1-hour class on a spindle and $15 for a 1-hour class on a spinning wheel. I couldn't believe how cheap it was so I booked a class right then to come back in 1.5 hours. Spinning wheel We visited more shops in the mean time and I went back for my one-on-one lesson.  I had a young instructor and with anyt

Mastocytosis Update

Image
Valentine's Party 2015 Lincoln is now 3 years old (and 5 months). He was first diagnosed with mastocytosis at age 6 months. Mastocytosis is a rare skin disease where mast cells are clumped together and can cause an itching reaction when the lesions are irritated or stimulated. The reaction can be caused by foods, temperature, and emotions. Lincoln did go to a dermatologist shortly after his diagnosis. The dermatologist was not alarmed by the extent of Lincoln's condition. As a matter of fact, he had no worries. He said it may go away at puberty. He has 5 lesions total (cheek, chest, back, side, and bottom). Christmas 2014 Last week, was the first time that Lincoln showed a sign of being uncomfortable by a lesion. I was getting him dressed for bed and he was itching the underneath side of his bottom. He said, "A bug bite is itching!" I told him it was a lesion. That lesion popped up when he was an infant around the time of  the diagnosis. I saw it every ti
