Furniture

I like this crib and changing table better, I think. It looks more raw and natural. Perfect for a baby's nest.

11 Weeks

All of your baby's vital organs are now formed and functioning, so the risk of defects decreases this week as your baby becomes less susceptible to outside influences. Phew! Other exciting developments include: Baby's ears are assuming their proper place this week and the fingernail and toenail beds are beginning to form. Your little "pumpkin head" really lives up to his nickname as his head is nearly as big as the rest of his body. While testes or ovaries are completely formed now, don't start decorating the nursery. You won't be able to see your baby's gender for a few more weeks yet. Your baby is really on the move now. In an ultrasound you might be able to see your little acrobat flailing his or her arms and legs and doing somersaults worthy of Cirque du Soleil. You still won't be able to feel any movement, so if you feel something "kick" in there, it's probably gas. In the next nine weeks, your baby will increase 30 times in w

Nursery

We were looking for baby bedding with birds. Something that could be used for a boy or girl. We looked on several websites. I decided to check Wal*Mart for fun and we found this . This is the nursery furniture we picked out from JC Penny: Bookcase  (not available) Crib Changing Table

10 Weeks

By the end of Week 10, your baby graduates from embryo to fetus, which literally means "little one." It also translates to "I'm just going to keep getting bigger and bigger and so are you!" Other highlights this week: Your baby has finally morphed from a little tadpole into, well, a baby. Not only is the face more human-like, but that unflattering "tail" (really just the developing spinal cord) has disappeared, fusing into the spinal column. Your baby now has discernible fingers and toes, which will explain the steady stream of kicks and punches you'll feel down the line. Junior's skeleton is starting to grow and harden. The ears are beginning to take shape and the eyelids are no longer transparent. Tooth buds are forming, although your baby won't get any teeth until six or seven (or eight or nine or 10) months after birth. Baby's brain will make an incredible 25,000 new neurons every minute this week. While you may feel like yo

How far along: 9 weeks, 5 days How big is baby: .9 inches, weighs 1 gram Weight gain: At my 8-week visit I had gained 2 lbs. At the clinic on Friday for strep, I had lost 2lbs. Maternity clothes: I wear maternity jeans and black pants from Motherhood. I wear stretchy pants and pajama pants at home. I wear a bra I already owned. Haven't had to buy one yet. Sleep: I sleep awesome right now! Best moment of the week: When I noticed my belly getting rounder. Movement: Baby is moving in there. Just can't feel it yet! Foods I love: I ate spaghetti from the school cafeteria and in 3.5 years have never eaten it. It was delicious! I drink milk a couple times a day. I think it is more the vinegar from the ketchup and pickles that I liked this week. I've eaten almost a box of real fruit Popsicle's. Chicken biscuits, biscuits and gravy from Chick-fil-a, brownies Foods I hate: Vegetables, the smell of most food, coffee, sodas Morning sickness: Happens in t

StReP ThRoAt!

I had a stressful day at school on Thursday because I sent 4 kids to the Opportunity Room (in-school suspension) and I taught my club until 5:00. Thursday night after dinner, my throat started getting sore and I vomitted. I thought it was pregnancy-related. I was immediately cold and shivering and had a pounding headache. I took Tylenol and went to sleep. I woke up again and took more more Tylenol for a headache in the middle of the night. I was feeling awful so I emailed the principal and requested a substitute. I thought I had the flu. I did go to school early to prepare sub plans and came back home. I slept from 8:00-12:30. I called the nurse to ask what I should take. They said I had to get a swab done and test positive for flu before they could tell me what to take. Joe got home from work at 1:00pm so he took me to the READDY clinic that we have gone to before. My temperature was 99.9. They did a flu and strep swab and it was positive for strep. So I am on antiboitics and feeling

Pregnancy Week 9: All About Baby

Image
During your 9th week of pregnancy, your baby is busy growing. Her face looks more baby-like each day—her eyes are developed but concealed, and her nose, lips, and ears are becoming more defined. She's also starting to exercise her expanding muscles. Her fingers and toes are looking less like stubs. Although she's a wiggler—and you could see that on an ultrasound—she's still so small that you won't feel these movements. Her reproductive organs are developing, but even if you sneaked a peek you wouldn't be able to tell that she's a she (and neither could your doctor at this point).

Toccoa Clinic

Image
Joe and I left Athens at 12:30 to head to the Toccoa Clinic. As soon as we arrived at 1:30, we overheard that our midwife left for the day. She had a delivery! We still completed our medical history paperwork and the ultrasound, but we didn't speak to the midwife yesterday. Our baby at 8 Weeks 1 Day old (gestation) We were given three pictures and a DVD of the ultrasound. The whole thing was recorded, complete with the sound of the heartbeat. The baby was measured and heartbeats were counted. We were told that the heartbeat was strong. Based on the size, they said the baby is 8 weeks, 1 day old. She said based on the size that my due date is September 18th! If they go by my last menstrual date, the due date would be September 16th. After we left the office, I did lab work at another clinic. I will receive a call if there are any concerns. My next appointment is March 7 at 1:30. They will do another ultrasound and record it on the same DVD!

Bird nursery

We want a bird nursery because it can be neutral and it already fits with the theme we have in that room. We we looking at things on etsy this afternoon. Her are some things I like:

Your Baby

Image
This week, your little tadpole is starting to look a little bit more human. Other exciting developments include: Your baby's eyelids, ears, upper lip and the tip of his soon-to-be adorable button nose are forming. Junior will also sprout webbed fingers and toes this week—which you'll be well aware of in a few months, as baby starts early gymnastics classes inside you. Baby's tiny heart has separated into four distinct chambers and is really ticking now—at a rate of 150 beats per minute. That's more than twice your resting heart rate (even when Brad Pitt is on the screen). Your baby is now a little more than ½ inch long, about the size of the rock in Nicole Richie's engagement ring, and is about as heavy as the check Joel Madden wrote to pay for it.

iphone

On Thursday morning at 6:00, Joe and I purchased our iphones from Verizon because we are existing customers. They have already been shipped and we should receive them via FedEx anyday. Mine was discounted and Joe's company purchased his for him. We are excited about applications we can purchase for them.

8 Weeks

Every Friday I switch over to a new "week". This past week was the toughest so far because the nausea started. I ate fast food (Zaxby's and Taco Bell) since it was something I craved and it is hard to find things that make me hungry. It is weird that I have been eating less sweets too. I don't drink any kind of coffee or teas. I was drinking decaf coffee when I was trying to conceive, but I have only had a couple cups of decaf since we found out. I'm not craving sodas either. I used to have sweets at night, but I haven't been eating anything past dinner besides drinking ginger ale or water. Sleeping is still comfortable so I am enjoying it as long as I can. I still can sleep in all positions. I haven't been exercising besides walking at work and the disk golf Joe played on Saturday. Joe and I have decided to use cloth diapers and a friend of mine shared some products with me. Prefolds Diaper covers Diaper covers Remember the ones we grew up using?

Nausea

Well, I started feeling nauseous on Sunday night. I went to bed at 9:00pm so I could lay down and just sleep it away. Monday evening was worse. I was able to stay up until 10:00 to watch The Bachelor though. I was nauseous lying in bed too. When I woke up this morning and started moving around, still nauseous. Most of the morning at school has been uncomfortable. I'm worried that once I get home, it will be worse in the evening. I've been told to try ginger snaps, which I love the cookies so I may. Food is another issue. These days it is hard to find something that sounds good. Cold vegetables and fruit are not appealing. I've been eating cereal and I just ate a plate of mashed potatoes and peas for lunch. One thing may sound good one day and make me gag the next. Joe is frustrated because he will ask what I want for dinner, but I can't tell him and if I do tell him I want something I fear I may not by dinnertime. The midwife said first trimester is survival. I eat
