Triple Nipple Club

Supernumerary nipple on 18-month old
Since she was a baby, she's had a bump beside her inverted, immature breasts. I think a pediatrician called it a cyst when I asked previously.

At the 18-month well-check, I asked our pediatrician again. She said, "That is an accessory nipple." What? I had never heard of such a thing. She said that she could have cosmetic surgery when she gets older to have it removed if she was uncomfortable about it.

Of course, I couldn't wait to tell Joseph and do some research on the topic. I discovered that they are a common minor congenital malformations and grow along milk lines in the body. Some even lactate! Supernumerary nipples are so common that 1:50 women and 1:18 men have them! These people are known as the Triple Nipple Club; however, some people have more than three nipples. Several celebrities have them. People like Carrie Underwood had theirs removed. If you think about it, several mammals, like cats, dogs, and cows have multiple nipples to feed their babies. Do a Google search and see for yourself! =)
